An adult day program is a place for adults who live independently in the community (such as in their own homes) and who are referred for:
- Friendly contact with other people
- Time off for family and friends who care for the person
- Help with diet and food
- Help with looking after health and illness (physical and mental)
- Fun
- Fitness (on their own or in a group)
- Help with personal care
- Activities and services that help the person's well-being
Each client has their own plan for care that fits with their needs and interests.
Adult Day Centres are staffed by qualified activity workers and nurses (RNs and LPN's). The cost of Adult day centre services are paid by Ministry of Health, but daily costs for food and transportation are paid by the client or the client's family.
